A new welcome to the newcomers

20 Feb

This weekend is the start of the new block of lessons here at Aberdeen Snowsports Centre and with that means the end of the old block and some new red level graduates ready to join in to our Club programme.

The club programme follows a 6 weekly cycle to allow for the influx of newcomers and we’re here to say a big “welcome”.  As part of your training at club level we always want to know what your goals are for that session, this season, this year or next year!! We want to hear about what you like and what you would like.  Duncan Trilk, one of our regulars has drawn up a rad picture of the things he likes and the things he would like.

Check it out, click to make bigger…

We’d like to build a collection of these so get busy and hand them into reception, your coaches or to Beth.  We’ll display all pictures in the large cabin at the bottom of the tubing slope.

Retro Slalom at Cairngorm

1 Feb

Let's get retro

A fun event event open to skiers and snowboarders of all ages.

It’s time to rummage through your closet or in the loft and find that old ski suit your mum, dad or grand parents used to wear and track down where that old set of skis went or snowboard.  The older and more rad the gear the more time will be deducted from your runs.

Register on the day at the top of the course from 12.00. (look for the guys dressed in one piece suits!) Get 2 timed runs which will be tabulated and results will be available at 4pm in the Tbar cafe.

Prizes for the best time in each Catergory!

See you there and bring a mate who has camera.

Club Sessions

18 Oct

Hey all, now that the leaves are falling and there is a chill in the air I am sure, like us, you are starting to get itchy feet for that first snow fall.  The local shops are filling up with new toys and the first of the test days have already been down at the slope.  Weekends have been busy with freestyle comps and open days and we are all getting set for another epic winter.

Our club scene has grown at the slope with more people than ever joining in to our coached sessions and reaping the benefit of getting in those boots pre season.  The Goatpost is here to keep all of our members informed on what’s going on at the centre  and events elsewhere that you may be interested in.  We aim to have something here for everyone, from your kids in the weekend  clubs to adults on Thursday nights and everyone inbetween including our very talented rippers and racers who are starting to travel the country and standing on podiums.

If you want to keep informed make sure you sign up for email subscription and you’ll be sure not to miss a post.  If you have any photos that you’ve taken or anything you’d like to add then feel free to email thegoatpost@gmail.com and we’ll post it up.  Thanks and check back for more info on your club – go direct to Categories if you want to check on the latest updates for your specific club.

New Session – Saturday Social

8 Oct

There will be a new session starting on Saturday nights aimed at families getting together for a ski.  The ‘SATURDAY SOCIAL‘ will run from 5-7pm on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month. The first session will be the 6th November and the next 20th November.

Up to two juniors will get in free with a paying adult meaning you and your family can ski together at an affordable rate.  The session will be supervised and we’ll be able to give you tips on your skiing, set up games and challenges and generally help you out in any way.

As always our minimum standard for slope use applies meaning you all must be able to use the uplift and control your spped and line on the slope.

Adult entry fee is £14, including up to two free juniors.

Solo or extra junior entry fee is £8.

So see you down here on Saturday night, it should be a giggle.
